Inulin is an organic substance from the group of complex carbohydrates (polysaccharide). It is obtained by processing the roots and tubers of some plants. By its properties, inulin belongs to the group of prebiotics, that is, it is not absorbed in the upper sections of the gastrointestinal tract, but it is perfectly fermented by the intestinal microflora, stimulating the active growth of beneficial microorganisms and ensuring the normal functioning of the digestive system and the body as a whole.

Inulin is extracted from plants by cold pressing. This is a gentle method that preserves all the beneficial properties of the prebiotic as much as possible. Jerusalem artichoke and chicory are used as raw materials, with chicory in the first place.

The result is an almost tasteless powder that can then be used for various purposes.

In the food industry, inulin is used as a technological ingredient. Inulin is added to baby food, baked goods, dairy products, chocolate, diet foods, and more.

Interestingly, inulin is used in the manufacture of fat-free foods in order to reduce their calorie content. This is because in this way the presence of fat in the product is imitated - inulin, when combined with water, is able to form a creamy substance with a texture similar to fat.

Of course, inulin can also be conveniently used in homemade diet baked goods.

The pharmaceutical industry uses inulin to make dietary supplements that are recommended for the treatment and prevention of many diseases.

In addition to diabetics, it is useful to take inulin for people suffering from the following diseases: gastrointestinal infections (acute and chronic), dysbiosis, bone diseases, frequent colds, gastritis, and so on.
